Preparing to move overseas is never easy. There are the physical tasks which one must undertake such as packing, storing, finances etc. and then there are the mental hurtles to overcome. A friend of mine suggested I start writing this blog now so that others can read some of the challenges and or triumphs of moving overseas.
Where am I am now? Last day of work is February 22. I move my things into storage on February 23. I leave for the wilds of Oussouye, Senegal, West Africa on March 1, 2007. I am mostly packed. My papers are mostly in order. My French needs to be worked on A LOT in the next month. I have to get my taxes done before I leave. Finish my will, Power of Attorney documents and health proxy. I have to make sure all things I oversee here in lovely Syracuse, NY are properly handed over to the people taking over.
